Error Codes & Troubleshooting
Error Codes 1 & 2 [E01 & E02]
If the LCD Panel Displays an E01 or E02 Error Code, this means the diesel has not arrived at the combustion chamber or the diesel heater has failed to ignite.
We have put all possible causes and solutions of E01 & E02 into a video or below you can click through the different causes and solutions.
-
If your tank is out of fuel than either of these error codes will show up.
If your tank is out of fuel then simply fill the tank up and prime the diesel heater. Note: Check the User Manual for Instructions of how to prime the heater.
If you haven’t started your heater for several months, then consider changing your fuel, as your fuel could have taken in water or be contaminated. Try putting some fresh diesel into the fuel tank and then follow the user manual on the priming process.
-
This is a common reason for why the two error codes show up. To know if you have an exhaust blockage, see below.
Thoroughly check for an exhaust blockage.
Remove the muffler from the exhaust. Note: The muffler doesn’t have to be removed from the van. Just remove the clamp holding the exhaust and muffler together.
Point the exhaust towards the ground, and observe if fuel is coming out of the exhaust.
Look for a blockage in the exhaust. Attemp to start your heater, if it starts then there may be a blockage in your heater.
If the heater doesn’t start then you can leave the muffler detached and disconnect the cold air intake hose.
If the heater still isn’t starting then there could be an issue with your glow plug or burner mesh, not allowing the heater to fire up.
If this is the case then please contact Born To Roam on 03 9017 0731 - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Inspect the fuel line from the fuel tank all the way back to the main heating unit. Observe all clamps including the fuel filter. Look for any breaks along the joins, look for any possible leaks. Note: Upon inspection the fuel filter should be at least half full.
Remove the second last clamp from the fuel line at the main unit. Detach the white cleare fuel line, and observe if any fuel is dripping from the unit or fuel line. If there is, then its unlikely to be blocked.
Error Code 3 [E03]
If the LCD Panel Displays an E03 this means that the unit is not receiving enough electrical current and amperage to heat the Glow Plug on start-up. This error will usually happen when the unit is attempting to start.
We have put all possible causes and solutions of E03 into a video or below you can click through the different causes and solutions.
-
The most common cause for this error is that the battery is too low and is not able to provide the amperage required to start the heater (It will draw 8 to 10 amps to start and to shut down as it heats the Glow Plug to ignite the fuel. Make sure your battery is fully charged and try again. Other possible causes follows.
Make sure the diesel heater is connected directly to your battery positive and negative terminals using the Au focus provided wiring and that there is nothing else connected to the same wiring. The reason is that the heater needs to dram between 8 and 10 amp to heat the glow plug to ignite the fuel. If it is connected to any other wiring then a it could be competing for power and cause a lack of power or the wiring can not handle the power, or it could be experiencing voltage drop between the unit and the battery. A direct connection from the heater original wiring to the Batteries will eliminate any power interruption.
Error Code 4 [E04]
If the LCD Panel Displays an E04 Error Code, this means that there is an issue with the temperature sensor. The temperature sensor is on the inside of the Main Heating Unit casing. It is pugged into the ECU and runs along the top of the combustion chamber and held into a small cradle by a clip.
We have put all possible causes and solutions of E04 into a video or below you can click through the different causes and solutions.
-
To Access the temperature sensor. Remove the rear duct from the heating unit by undoing the clamp holding the rear duct. if there is no ducting to the rear of the unit then simply unscrew the rear cap from the main heating unit.
Once the rear of the main heating unit is disconnected, observe the lugs to the left and right of the main unit. Gently lift the lugs and the cover of the main unit will lift off with them. Once the lid is off youll be able to see the ECU and Temperature sensor.
Observe the thee wires running from the yellow rectangular shaped ECU and over the top of the heat chamber. You will notice a clip which runs just under the front side of the housing. This clip is holding the Temperature sensor in a cradle against the body of the chamber.
Check that the clip is in place and look under the casing at the temperature sensor being held down. Ensure that it is secured properly.
Follow the three wires back to the yellow rectangle ECU box on the rear side of the main heating unit. The sensor will be plugged in on the right side of the ECU with a small white plug. Check the connection is in firmly.
Reassemble the top cover of the main heating unit and attempt to start the heater again. Note: If this fails then you will likely need to replace the temperature sensor.
Error Code 5 [E05]
If the LCD Panel Displays an E05 Error Code, this indicates that the sensor on the ECU has failed and the ECU would need to be replaced.
If you are encountering an E05 Error Code , please contact Born To Roam on 03 9017 0731 - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
We have put all possible causes and solutions of E05 into a video.
Error Code 6 [E06]
If the LCD Panel Displays an E06 Error Code, this indicates that the fuel pump is not plugged in properly or the plug has bad connection. It can also be caused by a wiring issue from the wiring harness to the pump plug.
We have put all possible causes and solutions of E06 into a video or below you can click through the different causes and solutions.
-
The most common cause for this error is because the pump plug from the wire harness may not be in properly or the pins inside the pump are slightly bent and not getting connection.
Unplug the pump by pressing the steel clip down and pulling the plug off. Check the inside of the connection of the pump. You will observe two pins. Ensure that they are centred and even. Reattach the plu firmly and try to restart the unit again. If this fails then continue to the next point.
Disconnect the pump power from the pump again. Give the inner pins on the pump side a small tweak with a small screw driver. Plug the pump back in and try and start the unit again. Try to make sure the pins are as centred as possible. Repeat this if the pump still fails as it sometimes takes a few attempts to get the pins just right.
If this fails after a few attempts, then check the wire harness from the pump plug back to the main wire harness. Make sure that there are no obvious weak points or any damage.
If all appears to be okay and the pump still fails to pulse and gives the 06 Error then you may need to replace the pump.
Error Code 7 [E07]
If the LCD Panel Displays an E07 Error Code, this indicates that the fan is stuck, misaligned from sensor magnets or the fan motor has failed.
We have put all possible causes and solutions of E07 into a video or below you can click through the different causes and solutions.
-
To access the fan, remove the rear duct from the heating unit by undoing the clamp from the rear ducting. If there is no ducting to the rear of the main unit then simply unscrew the rear cap from the main heating unit.
Once the rear cap of the main heating unit is disconnected, observe the lugs to the rear left and right of the main unit. Gently lift the lugs and the cover of the main unit will lift off with them. Once the lid is off, youll be able to see the fan at the rear of the main heating unit.
Check that the fan spins freely. If not look for anything obvious that is blocking or restricting the fan from spinning. Check the power running into the fan motor is plugged into the ECU properly. If both of these things look fine then reassemble the cover and try starting the unit again. If this fails then the motor may need to be replaced.
